Jikiden Reiki is Reiki in its traditional form, straight from Japan, with its cultural and spiritual roots intact. It is free from Western New Age influence and the focus is on practical, grounded improvement of the body and mind.
Until recently, it was believed that traditional Reiki practice had all but died out, even in its birthplace of Japan.
Then, in the 1990s, the Yamaguchi family came to light. With several family members having been trained by Chujiro Hayashi himself (a direct student of Mikao Usui, the Founder of the system of Reiki), this humble family had been quietly practicing Reiki in its traditional form for decades.
When the Yamaguchi family realised how much the Reiki teachings now being spread across the world had changed from their original intent, and with many Western Reiki students asking to learn from them, they decided to set up the Jikiden Reiki Institute (‘Jikiden’ means ‘directly taught’) – offering authentic Reiki training based on what they had learned from Chujiro Hayashi in the early 1900s.
This training became available in the West from early 2000 and it is from this strong foundation that Reiki with Roots has grown.
